Bulldogs finish fourth at state

The UMS-Wright Bulldogs were still in the hunt for the Class 4A High School Golf Championship at Magnolia Grove's Fall Course in Mobile on Tuesday.
The UMS-Wright Bulldogs were trying to fight off St. James for a 12th consecutive state title.
The Andalusia Bulldogs, who finished second to the UMS-Wright pack of dogs at the sectional tournament, finished the two-round state championship tournament in fourth place with a score of 674.
St. James was in second place after the first round of play behind UMS-Wright.
The Andalusia Bulldogs had a team score of 349 in second-round play Tuesday to finish in fourth. Rain and poor playing conditions contributed to the high score.
Boaz finished in third with a score of 648. Trinity clinched fifth place with a score of 677.
Andalusia freshman Rodger Caffey had the low score for the Bulldogs on Tuesday with a round of 81 for a two-day total of 159.
Mark Chambers led Andalusia on Monday with a round of 77. He shot an 85 on Tuesday to finish with a two-day total of 162.
Michael Frye shot a 90 on Tuesday to finish with a two-day score of 169.
David Kyle and Patrick Jones both had two-day totals of 186 for Andalusia.
Andalusia was in third place with a score of 325 after Monday's first round of golf on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course.
The Bulldogs were led by Mark Chambers with a 77 on Monday. Rodger Caffey posted a first-round score of 78 and Michael Frye shot a round of 79. Patrick Jones had a 91 on Monday and David Kyle completed his tour around the links with a 93.
UMS-Wright's Joseph Sykora posted a 1-under-par 71 to take the 4A individual lead on Monday. His sub-par score helped the UMS-Wright team in its attempt to win a12th consecutive state championship.
Sykora has signed with the University of Alabama.
UMS-Wright eighth-grader Hunter Bronson rolled in a 25-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole for a 74 that had him tied for third place individually after Monday's round.
Ross Vinson added a 79 for UMS-Wright. Brinson Holder and Shaun Stapleton each shot an 83.
