CCBR hammers South Monroe

A trip to Frsico City turned out to be a romp for the Covington County Babe Ruth baseball team.
The Covington County squad hammered South Monroe for a 13-1 win in seven innings.
The game was never in doubt as the Covington County squad went on top 2-0 in the top of the first inning. Cole Carroll and Justin Clark both scored in the first inning to give the county squad all the runs it would need.
South Monroe managed to score one run in the bottom of the first inning, but never scored again.
Chris Watts was the starting pitcher for Covington County and went six innings. He allowed one run on two hits and two walks. He struck out eight.
Kenny Skipper took the mound in the seventh inning and did not allow a hit or run.
Two runs would have been enough for the win, but the Covington County batters did not stop there.
Chris Watts and Lee Edgar scored in the second inning for a 4-1 lead.
Kenny Skipper kept the Covington County offense on track with a lead-off home run to start the third inning. Bart Beam also scored in the inning for a 6-1 lead.
Carroll added another run in the fourth as the Covington County squad kept its streak of scoring in each inning alive. The county scored at least one run in each inning.
Edgar added a run in the fifth as the Covington County team began to cruise away with a lopsided win.
Jon Gudson scored in the sixth inning for Covington County for an 8-1 lead.
The county did not stop there.
In the top of the seventh inning, Covington County added five more runs for a 13-1 win.
Clark, Chris "Tank" Huckabaa, Skipper, Gudson and Dewayne Gladwell each scored in the seventh inning for Covington County.
Clark also had two RBIs in the game. Huckabaa added one RBI in the contest.
