Today is the last day to mail cards and letters for arrival by Christmas.

Andalusia Postmaster Mike Kolmetz said business was brisk on Monday, the day when the most holiday packages are delivered.

“It wasn’t the heaviest that I’ve ever seen it, but we were quite busy,” he said of the day’s business. “I’d like to remind residents if they still haven’t mailed out those Christmas cards, there’s still time. If you mail (a card) by the 22nd for local delivery, it will easily be there by the 24th.

For those cards and letters going to loved ones outside the local delivery area, today is the deadline to ensure they arrive by Christmas Eve, he said.

He said to meet the Christmas deadline, tomorrow, the 21st, is the deadline to send items via priority mail, and the 22nd the last day for sending by express mail.
