Semi overturns near Red Level

An investigation continues into a two-vehicle wreck occurring late Wednesday night in Red Level.
According to Red Level Police Chief David Anderson, his department received a call at approximately 11 p.m. regarding a wreck which occurred on Alabama Hwy. 55 and County Road 82 at the caution light.
Involved in the wreck was an 18-wheeler from Rhett Butler Trucking with a box trailer transporting recycled cardboard driven by Shirley Thompson from Geneva and a 1994 Dodge Spirit driven by Linda K. Hughes of Andalusia.
Anderson said the wreck resulted in total road blockage of the northbound lane.
He said neither of the drivers appeared to suffer serious injuries, although both were transported by Andalusia Rescue Squad to Andalusia Regional Hospital for observation.
Also responding to the wreck scene were the River Falls Police Department, the Covington County Sheriff's Department, Red Level Volunteer Fire Department, Andalusia Rescue Squad, Bryant Body Shop and Palmer's Body Shop.
Anderson said as of Thursday afternoon that a probable cause for the wreck had yet to be determined.
