Headland's Rams are winless on the 2003 season, but Opp Head Coach Jeff Rhodes said the squad is better than the 0-5 record indicates. The Opp Bobcats enter Friday night's game with a 4-1 record after suffering its first loss of the season at the hands of the Class 3A Straughn Tigers last week.
The Opp-Headland game kicks off at 7: 30 p.m. on Friday.
Rhodes said the 90-minute road trip will give his players plenty of time to get focused and think about the importance of eliminating turnovers.
"Not turning the ball over will be a big factor and not making any mistakes," Rhodes said.
Headland is down to its third-string quarterback, but still relies on a passing offense.
"They are playing everybody close," Rhodes said. "They are playing some good competition. They haven't caught any breaks and are playing the toughest part of their schedule without their No. 1 quarterback."
The Bobcats must eliminate mistakes and key on shutting down the Rams passing attack, especially the star receiver.
"They have one really good receiver," Rhodes said. "They like to put it up and let him go up and get it."
Rhodes said the receiver is tall with good range and good hands.
