SHELTERS

The Georgiana Church of Christ and Eastside Baptist Church are open as shelters for storm evacuees from south Alabama and Butler County.

The Baptist and Methodist churches in Forest Home are now open as storm shelters.

YMCA EMERGENCY SHELTERS

If you live in a mobile home and are a resident of Butler County, you are urged to move to the shelter at the YMCA aka Beeland Park.

Please bring food, blankets, water and medications with you.

BEWARE OF RUMORS

There are rumors that the Butler County Water Department and the City of Greenville Water Works are shutting down at 4 p.m.

According to Terry Wilhite, the only reason the water system will shut down is due to a power outage.

EMERGENCY SHELTERS

The Greenville and Georgiana National Guard armories are also open as shelters.

SCHOOL INFORMATION

All Butler County Public Schools will be fully operational Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004.

They will be closed Thursday and Friday.

The BOE meeting scheduled for Thursday evening has been canceled and will be rescheduled at a later date.

Fort Dale Academy will close at 1:18 Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004 and will not reopen until Monday, Sept. 20.

COURTHOUSE

Butler County Courthouse will be close from noon Wednesday, Sept. 15 and will reopen on Monday, Sept. 20.

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce offices will close at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 15 and will tentatively reopen on Friday, Sept. 17.
