Sex abuse cases hit docket

Six of the 25 cases on Monday’s criminal court docket for Circuit Judge Ashley McKathan are sex-abuse related.
Included on the docket was the case against former police officer and former sheriff candidate Kevin Owens, who was indicted Dec. 2007, on two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and intimidating a witness. It is alleged Owens engaged in sexual intercourse with a female by forcible compulsion and subjected a child less than 12 years old to sexual conduct – two separate incidents with two victims.
But District Attorney Greg Gambril said Thursday the case has been continued at the defense’s request.
Other sex abuse cases on the docket include the state versus:
Robert Dennis Lolley on charges of first-degree sexual abuse and first-degree sodomy.
Samuel A. McCormick on charges of sex abuse of a child, attempted sex abuse of a child and enticing a child.
James Richard Downes on charges of first and second degree sexual abuse and enticing a child.
Perry Demon Parrish on charges of sexual abuse of a child under 12, first-degree sodomy and first-degree sexual abuse.
Darrell Sean Campbell on charges of first-degree sexual abuse and first-degree sodomy.
Also set are 11 drug-related cases set; one alcohol-related case; two fraud related cases; one child abuse case; one robbery case; and one criminal mischief case.
They are the state versus:
Gilbert Lee Johnson for felony driving while intoxicated and driving while suspended or revoked.
Cora Mathews for unlawful possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Veronica Reeves for fraudulent use of a credit card.
Dameki Rashun Smith for unlawful possession of a controlled substance, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Michael Dewayne Russell for unlawful possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Jeremy David Prue for unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
Teresa Anderson for theft of property and forgery.
Randy Kevin Hobbs for unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance, trafficking and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Jeffery L. Davis for unlawful imprisonment, willful abuse of a child and domestic violence.
Leonard Ben Coon for unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance.
Ashley Ann Wiggins, Rickey Dale Furlow and Larry Sutley for unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
Jene Brittanie Cerda and Franklin Quesada for receiving stolen property.
Roman Lindsey for unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Janice Labecca Raley and Nathan Brian Odom for unlawful distribution of a controlled substance (Odom only) and chemical endangerment of a child.
Lee Kenta Peacock for robbery.
Joshua Cain Fowler for unlawful possession of a controlled substance and public intoxication.
Kim L. Jackson for Medicaid fraud.
Christopher Milton Petus for criminal mischief.
Evelyn Devon Peacock for unlawful possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and giving a false name to law enforcement.
