As Butler County’s unemployment rate drops, it is easy to see why many believe if a person wants to work, the jobs are out there.

Production jobs with Greenville automotive supplier Hwashin America Corp. are available for candidates who complete Alabama Industrial Development training. Those interested should apply at the Alabama Career Center in Greenville at 117 W. Commerce Street.

They must be completed and returned by Feb. 11, 2005.

According to Rhonda Simmons, Hwashin’s human resources director, the company currently employs 70 people and hopes to employ between 200 to 250 by June.

&uot;When we began hiring, we found that nobody had really any experience in this area around here,&uot; she said.

&uot;We’re training people when we hire them.

Of course, we didn’t expect people to have experience.&uot;

She said people interested in the open position can range from people just finishing high school to just finishing college.

&uot;Most of our production jobs are basic skills type work,&uot; she said.

&uot;Those basic skills are they are willing to work, have good work attendance, want to work and they are willing to learn.&uot;

She did say Hwashin is very firm on doing background checks on potential and that a criminal record check is conducted.

Other than that, she said it is up to the person.

&uot;Attitude makes the difference with this company and that is your attitude towards your job,&uot; she said.

&uot;If you come in with a good attitude and a want-to-work attitude, you’ll learn the job quickly.&uot;

Simmons said Hwashin will not go into mass production until the end of February or the first weeks of March.

The Hyundai plant in Montgomery expects to begin production in March.

America will produce chassis, drive trains and vehicle body parts for Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama LLC.

AIDT training for Hwashin will identify candidates with skills and abilities needed for production jobs.

AIDT training programs are conducted at night to allow trainees to continue working at their current jobs. Training is provided at no cost to trainees and trainees are not paid by Hwashin while in training. Employment is not guaranteed for all trainees.

Job applications are also being accepted to fill a certified electrician position. AIDT training is not required for this job.
