In the wake of the numerous signs dotting the city landscape this Lenten season announcing &uot;This house is praying for the community&uot;, the call to prayer in the Camellia City is continuing to grow.

The Central Alabama Prayer Leaders’ Network (CAPLN) is bringing its quarterly meeting to Greenville this February.

On Saturday, February 26, a day-long workshop will be held at the host church, Call to Life Worship Center at 201 Glendale Ave. Prayer leaders from First United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church of Greenville are helping sponsor this day of prayer training.

The workshop will begin at 8:30 a.m. with coffee and continental breakfast and will conclude at 3 p.m. There is no registration fee, but there is a $6 charge for lunch.

Planned teaching sessions include &uot;Becoming Houses of Prayer&uot; with Jan Niel of Frazer UMC; &uot;Prayer in the Marketplace&uot; led by Bill Hurley, CEO of Legacy Financial Planning; &uot;Praying for My Community&uot;, led by Gwen Bradley, co-pastor of Anointed Remnant Ministries and &uot;Keys to the City Transformation&uot; led by Carmen Falcione, pastor of The Gathering.

Margie Kennedy of First Baptist Church and Nan Branum of Southside Baptist Church worked with Jan Niel to arrange this workshop. Both women have participated in CAPLN workshops in other cities.

&uot;We hope to see local churches become ‘Houses of Prayer’ so we can dispel that old idea of a &uot;prayer ministry&uot; involving only a small, obscure group over in a corner somewhere,&uot; says Kennedy.

CAPLN was started in 2002 by a group of Montgomery area prayer leaders in an effort to promote prayer in churches throughout the Central Alabama area. Quarterly workshops provide training and an opportunity to encourage an area-wide prayer focus.

The stated purpose of CAPLN is "to see every Christian church in Central Alabama become 'a house of prayer for all nations' (Isaiah 56:7) and to support prayer leaders and pastors by encouraging Biblical unity and concerted prayer in order to bring about community transformation".

Event organizers invite all local and area churches to participate in this workshop, timely training in the relation to the ongoing "Prayer Declaration Yard Signs" promoted by the Greater Greenville Ministerial Association.
