Giant snowflakes, trees glowing with white lights, and the sounds of cool jazz wafting through the air set the perfect &uot;Winter Wonderland&uot; tone at last Saturday night’s Miss FDA pageant at the Ritz Theatre.
33 contestants, grades 10 through 12, vied for the crown and title of Miss Fort Dale Academy.
It was no easy decision for the panel of judges, but Junior Holley Arnold, sponsored by her parents Joe and Mary Arnold, was ultimately chosen as the new Miss FDA. She was crowned by her predecessor, 2004 Miss FDA, Cile Martin.
Terrell Brannon, sponsored by Terrell Enterprises, was chosen as the first runner up. Terrell, also a Junior, is the daughter of Al and Dale Brannon. Other members of the Top Ten included Salley Burkett, Shana Fail, Coby Greene, Carleton McGowin, Brittany Singleton, Andrea Skipper, Hope Stanford and Terra Whittle.
Senior Laura Waller was selected by her fellow contestants as Miss Congeniality.
David Norrell once again served as the emcee for the evening, while daughter Madison entertained the packed house with a song from the upcoming FDA Drama production of &uot;Seven Brides for Seven Brothers&uot;. Ashley Langford directed Saturday night’s production while the FDA Yearbook Staff provided the set design.
