When Fort Dale took the field against Sparta Academy, the baseball mismatch was obvious. And at the end of the first game, it was even more so as Fort Dale cakewalked to another win.

Game two, the first part of game two turned out to be a different story. The Warriors chose not to be doormats for the Eagles and held close for two and a half innings.

In the bottom of the third inning, Brady Newton took a pitch and with one swing of the bat deposited it in the parking lot of Day Park to put the Eagles up 5-2.

Sparta was still able to get out of the inning.

In the bottom of the next inning, however, Sparta's wheels fell off.

The Eagles opened the inning with runners reaching base due to an error, and then a pair of walks. Eric Hicks reached base on an error and advanced to second and third and then stole home on a pitch to push Fort Dale up 6-2.

Two batters walk for the Eagles and then Newton comes back to the plate, rips a deep fly that's caught, but is able to push a run across the plate, bringing the tally to 7-2. From there Corey Asderau blasted a double to push a run across the plate, 8-2.

Casey Weston drew a walk and then was scored on a double by Adam Moore. David Moore drew a walk, but Hicks grounded out to the pitcher to end the inning and put the scoring on hold.

After four innings, Fort Dale was up 10-2.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Eagles were able to garner runs from Kyle Dorriety and Brady Newton.

When Newton's run crossed the plate, the umpire called ballgame due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Fort Dale will not be back in action until April 5 when they play host to the Monroe Academy Volunteers in a two game set.

They will also be in action that weekend when they go down to Cottage Hill for a three game tilt with the Warriors.
