Red Sox take Youth League title

The Red Sox closed out the season as close to perfect in the Dixie Youth League as it could come by winning the league with a 12-1 record.

Following the final games of the season on Friday, the 11- and 12-year-old all-star team was announced. The Greenville all-stars will have almost a month to prepare for the district tournament, which will begin July 5 in Greenville.

Todd Burkett was named the most valuable player of the Red Sox, while Alex Bowden was given the Sportsmanship Award.

Nathan Branum was named the MVP for the second-place Braves (10-4). Mack Langford was honored with the Sportsmanship Award.

Hunter Armstrong, who was named the team's MVP, helped lead the Cardinals to a third-place finish in the league. Armstrong's teammate, Jonathan Scott, was given the Sportsmanship Award.

Raymond Moody was the Sportsmanship Award winner for the A's, which finished the season at 7-7. Joshua Ray was named the team's MVP.

Skylar McKeown, named the MVP, led the Mets to a four-win season. Cody Crawford was the Sportsmanship Award winner.

Dalton Burns led the Rangers as the team's MVP, while Jerome Cook was given the Sportsmanship Award.
