With tropical storm Arlene on the move,

the Butler County Farm Day scheduled for today has been postponed until further notice, said organizers on Friday.

"We decided to postpone it due to the bad weather coming this way," said Mrs. Carey Thompson.

Thompson said Farm Day organizers would probably decide Monday which day they will plan to hold the event.

"Several people said they wanted to reschedule it for next Saturday, June 18, but right now nothing is definite," Thompson said.

The event, which the group hopes to make an annual one, will feature old-time farm demonstrations such as quilt-making, blacksmithing, milking, butter churning, crocheting, tatting, mule plowing and other ways of days gone by.

Activities for children are also planned, including face painting, animal balloons and a pedal tractor race. A petting zoo will feature goats, chickens, donkeys and more.

In addition, there will be displays of vintage farm implements, tractors and trucks.

The event is slated to take place exactly four miles from where Hwy. 31 and County Rd. 45 (Halso Mill Road) intersect. Lawn chairs are welcome but no coolers, alcohol, four-wheelers or golf carts, please.
