The Straughn Lady Tigers junior varsity softball team has gotten off to a good start this season with two home wins over Florala and Opp.

Straughn defeated Florala 13-3 in five innings on Tuesday. On Thursday night, the Lady Tigers beat Opp, 10-6.

“They have been hitting the ball really well,” Straughn coach Ray Wilson said. “(Thursday night), what I was most proud of is that they got behind 6-0 in the game — came back and tied it up.

“Then, in the bottom of the sixth, we scored four runs to take the lead,” he said. “So, that was nice to see.”

The junior varsity team will host Kinston on Monday at 4 p.m.
