Top-ranked Donoho was too much for Pleasant Home on Thursday, and went on to beat the Lady Eagles 3-0 at the Class 1A sub-state round in Anniston.

PHS lost 15-25, 12-25, 9-25, and finished its season with a 14-11 record.

“We did all we could do,” PHS volleyball coach Jerry Davis said.

Davis said the girls were “scared” at the start, but as the match went along, they began playing better.

“We played very well in the second game. It was tied up for a short time,” he said. “When we saw it was out of hand in the last game, we played everybody.”
