Greenville pitcher Brittany White was part of a travel softball team that advanced to the World Series for the sixth time in the last seven years.

White played for the Panama City (Fla.) Starlets 16 and Under team that scored more than 600 runs in its travel season. The Starlets won the Pepsi Classic Tournament in Dothan, the Tupelo tournament in Wewahitchka, Fla., and the state tournament in Daphne.

During the Pepsi Classic tournament, the Starlets allowed just one run during the three-day tournament.

The Starlets earned a No. 2 seeding in the World Series, where the team finished fourth.

The Starlets bounced teams from Georgia, Tennessee, Maryland and Florida from the tournament before being eliminated by the Dixie Chicks of Mobile.

White has played for the Starlets for the last two years as a pitcher. This season, White played as a pitcher and a right fielder.

White will battle for the starting pitching spot at Greenville for her junior season.

She plans on foregoing travel ball this year to participate in a number of camps.

White was named MVP of the team in 2004-05.
