ZELLA RAE NELSON
Zella Rae Nelson, 80, of Florala, passed away Sat., Oct. 15, at the home of her son, Jay W. Nelson, in Andalusia.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced at a later date.
She is survived by her sons, Larry Pickron of Riverside, Ca., Jerry Pickron of New Brockton, Terry Pickron of Florala, Marty Pickron of Riverside, Ca., and Jay W. Nelson of Andalusia; daughters, Geraldine Wood and Shirley Daughtry, both of Paxton, Fla., Judy Aplin of Florala, Barbara Graves of Navarre, Fla., and Regina Pickron of Conyers, Ga. Also known as “Memaw,” she is survived by her many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Moge Pickron of Florala and Jess W. Nelson of Crestview, Fla.; son, Gary Mark Pickron of Paxton, Fla.; and daughter, Dianne Moore of Florala.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
ROBERT L. MESSICK
Robert L. Messick, 87, of Andalusia, passed away Sat., Oct. 15, 2011, in the local hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., today, Tues., Oct. 18, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Peaceful Acres Cemetery in Opp with Navy honors and Keahey Funeral Home directing and the Rev. Carl Turman officiating. Special music will be provided by Larry Turman, Carl Turman, Candace Hudson, Nekia Everhart, Larecia Laney and James Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Era Messick; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Sandy Messick; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Patricia Bates Howell and Richard Howell; brothers and sisters-in-law, Cecil and Rudine Messick, Rudolph and Martha Messick and Ottis and Billie Messick; sisters, Lola Owens, Elaine and Marvin Owens, all of Andalusia, Janice Nelson of Grady and Connie and Monroe Sasser of Andalusia; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Myrtle Ruth Messick. and two sisters, Lois Henderson and Lurlene Mahaffey.
Serving as pallbearers will be Russell Messick, Manuel Owens, Ricky Messick, David Mahaffey, Zachary Ward and Richard Howell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Merrill, Dr. Morgan Moore, Bill Law, Robert Linder and Harland Taylor.
PHYLLIS ODOM MCCORD
Phyllis Odom McCord, 76, of Opp, died Sun., Oct. 16, 2011, in a Prattville nursing home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wed., Oct. 19, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Elbert Smith officiating and burial following in Henderson Cemetery. Visitation will be at Foreman Funeral Home one hour prior to the service.
Survivors include her sister, Barbara Sanders of Opp; brother, Donald Odom of Opp; grandchildren, Melissa and Chris Amos of Prattville, Jay McCord and Anna Bay McCord of Andalusia; and great-grandchildren, Brooks Amos and Mary Camden Amos of Prattville.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray McCord, and son, Greg McCord.

EUNICE HICKS BROWDER
Eunice Hicks Browder, 98, of Andalusia, died Sun., Oct. 16, 2011, in the Andalusia Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., today, Tues., Oct. 18, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Sharpe and the Rev. James Coleman officiating, and burial following in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m. today at Foreman Funeral Home.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Jenelle and James Jones of Andalusia, Louise and Robert Taylor of Sheffield and Clara Dozier of Andalusia; her sons and daughter-in-law, Lee Roy and Joan Dozier of Grand Bay and Oren P. Dozier of Falls Church, Va.; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Ned and Madge Hicks of Lakeland, Fla.
She is preceded in death by a daughter, Lela Bowden.

MARGARET GOODSON PARKER
Margaret Goodson Parker, 79, of North Augusta, S.C., formerly of Opp, died Sat., Oct. 8, 2011, at her residence.
Funeral services were held on Sat., Oct. 15, from Wyatt Funeral Home. Burial followed in Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens.
She was survived by her husband, Randolph Kinsey Parker of North Augusta, S.C.; sons and daughters-in-law, James Randall and Nancy Parker and Kenneth Wayne and Joan Parker, all of North Augusta, S.C.; sisters, Ruth Holmes and Shirley Owens; grandchildren, Heather P. Oates, Evan Parker and Ryan Parker; and friend, Laurie Holland.
She was preceded in death by her father, John William Goodson; mother, Minnie Norsworthy; and brothers, Ralph Goodson and Roy Goodson.
