Andalusia Regional Hospital has launched a personalized online health information resource on its website.

Called “Private Health News,” the resources allow subscribers to designate the health information they want to receive based on their age, gender and health needs.

ARH CEO Mark Dooley said there are now four free services available to patients and the program was designed to give subscribers the most current information needed about their health.

“This adds a new dimension to the way we serve our community,” Dooley said. “We’re committed to improving the health of our communities, and this new resource will give them easy access to the current health information that matters most to them. We hope that knowledge can help them make even more informed decisions about their health.”

The four areas of information include:

• “My Health Newsletter,” which delivers ,via email, up to three current articles each month that are selected from more than 350 of the nation’s top health publications on the topics subscribers choose;

• “My Health Reminders,” which are geared to the subscriber’s age and gender, and delivers via email, timely alerts for the key health screenings needed for good health;

• “My Baby Expectations,” for new moms, which are timed to the subscriber’s due date and steps parents-to-be through preparation, delivery and baby’s first year in a series of monthly email newsletters; and

• “My Health Assessments,” which are a collection of appraisals designed to increase awareness of your health status in four categories.

“All of the content offered through each of these services undergoes three levels of review by medical experts,” Dooley said. “While we always support the family’s doctor as their best health resource, we also know that more than 50 million Americans regularly turn to the Internet for health information. And that number is growing all the time. We believe we can be a valuable partner in this community’s good health by connecting our subscribers to information that is both current and informative.”

“Private Health News” subscribers receive only the topics and information they request via password-protected, secure online communication, he said.
