A violent offender from Santa Rosa County, Fla., was apprehended in Rose Hill Tuesday.

Jeffery Edgar Macks, 43, was wanted on charges of aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Drug Task Force Agent Greg Jackson said agents, along with the Covington County Sheriff’s Office, the Dozier Police Department and US Marshals, received information that Macks was in the area and would be attempting to make his way back to Pensacola, Fla.

Agents made a traffic stop and apprehended Macks after a brief struggle. He was charged as a fugitive from justice and will be extradited back to Santa Rosa County to stand trial.
