A Greenville native's star continues to rise as she tackles words penned by

the immortal Bard of Avon in her latest role at Troy University.

The university's theater department will present Shakespeare's &#8220Hamlet” in April.

Jessica Hyatt, a 2004 Fort Dale Academy graduate, will appear as the tragic heroine, Ophelia.

&#8220I know it is a big challenge, but I am very excited about itŠthis is my first romantic leading role,” the theater major said.

Hyatt played the role of Miep in the university's production of &#8220The Diary of Anne Frank” and recently appeared as a chorus member in the musical &#8220Pippin.”

She has also worked behind the scenes on set designs for university productions.

As a high school student, Hyatt appeared in several productions of the FDA Players, among them &#8220Oklahoma!” and &#8220Arsenic and Old Lace.”

&#8220Hamlet” will be performed April 20, 21 and 22 at 7:30 p.m. with a 2:30 p.m. Sunday matinee slated for April 23.

Tickets are free to students with an ID and $5 for all other patrons. Tickets will be available in later March to early April through the university's ticket office.
