The Crenshaw Cougar varsity basketball team finished the 2005-2006 season at 13-15.

They finished 6-4 in the area.

The Cougars were coached by first year man, Michael Malpass, who apprenticed under UNC Charlotte head coach Bobby Lutz during the '98-'99 season.

Despite finishing second in the area championship, the Cougars were given a birth to the state playoffs.

The Cougars were defeated in the first round of state play by Warrior Academy who went on to win the AISA 1A State Boys Basketball Championship.

The Cougars played in two tournaments in the ‘05-‘06 season.

These tournaments included the Evangel Invitational and the 1A East Area Tournament.

In the Evangel Tournament, senior Klein Jones and junior Allen Sasser were honored with all tournament awards.

In the area tournament, Klein Jones and junior Bryan Brasington were honored with all tournament awards.

The Cougars were led by great senior players, Klein Jones and Sloan Carter.

Sloan Carter was a key part of the Cougars' success with his great effort in defense and rebounding.

He is planning to play football as a walk-on on the next level.

Klein was also instrumental in the Cougars' success with his great effort, leadership, offensive and defensive skills.

Klein averaged 23.0 points per game, which was a team best.

Klein was all-tournament in each tournament Crenshaw participated in and he was selected to the 2006 AISA East All-Star Team.

Klein was honored with the game's highest honor, Most Valuable Player.

This is a first in CCA history.

He, also, entered an elite club at Crenshaw Christian Academy that only a few other players have embarked, which was the 1,000-point club.

Klein's total points earned during his playing career at CCA were 1,233 points.

Klein has several colleges that are interested in his abilities of being a service to their program.

He has a guaranteed spot at Huntingdon College in Montgomery to become a Hawk and play for Head Coach, Tony Duckworth.

Huntingdon just came off their best season in years finishing 20-7 and winning their conference tournament.

Huntingdon is a Division III college, accredited and sanctioned by the NCAA.
