Sav-A-Life will open a second location in Florala in the coming months.
The announcement was made at Monday’s annual banquet by Amy Davis, SAL executive director.
Sav-A-Life is a non-denominational Christian ministry promoting a culture of life, health and morality. Locally, the ministry provides pregnancy testing, counseling and other services for expectant mothers.
“In January, the Florala mayor approached us about expanding services to the Florala area,” Davis said. “I kind of thought, well we already serve Florala since we serve all of Covington County, but he said, ‘No. You don’t understand the need here.’
“So I’m pleased to announce that by the end of the year, Sav-A-Life will open it second center to service the people of the Florala area,” she said. “Things came together perfectly just as God designed it.”
Logistical details, such as location and operational hours, will be worked out in the coming months.
Williamson said his goal in asking Sav-A-Life to come to Florala was to expand services for the city’s residents.
“It’s part of a continuing effort to make services convenient for our residents,” he said. “A trip to Andalusia and back – that’s $10 or more in gas. Anytime we can bring services closer to home is a good thing.”
Emcee Greg White said the organization also expressed a need for a new ultrasound machine that provides both video and sound.
“I proud to announce that need has been met by the Dixon Foundation,” he said.
