MARY KATHRYN WILSON

Mary Kathryn Wilson of Louisberg, N.C., formerly of Andalusia, was called home by her Heavenly Father on Sept. 10, 2011, at the age of 66. She passed away in Raleigh, N.C., after a lengthy battle with cancer. A memorial service was held at Grace Reformed Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, N.C., on Sept. 13, 2011.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James A. Wilson Sr. and Lucille P. Wilson. She is survived by her son, Joseph Legacy; daughter, Kimberly Legacy Rice; grandchildren, Joey Legacy, Lucy Legacy, Jordan Rice and Connor Rice; sister, Anne Wilson Folmar; and brother, James A. Wilson Jr.

ROBERT RYALS

Robert Ryals of East Pass Road, Andalusia, died Fri., Sept. 16, 2011, at his residence.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Mon., Sept. 19, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Drexel Copeland officiating, and burial following in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah Ryals and Dee McLelland of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., Donna and Tony Kervin and Dawn “Pedro” and Ricky Reeves of Andalusia; nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Kyzar, Kipp Kyzar, Brent Anderson, Casey Hardage, Austin Carter, Ari Carter, Ricky Reeves and Mark Crawford.

MARY JOYCE BALKOM WHITENER

Mary Joyce Balkom Whitener, 72, of Wing, died Sun., Sept. 18, 2011, in the Crestview, Fla., hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wed., Sept. 21, at the Beda Baptist Church in Wing with the Rev. Glen Hutto officiating and burial following in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from tonight from 5-7 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home and at the church 30 minutes prior to services.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Rusty and Kerrie Holland of Wing; daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Tim Smith of Rutledge, Ga; five grandchildren; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Myra and Ricky Weeks; stepsons and daughter-in-law, Donald Whitener and Robert and Beth Whitener, all of North Carolina; 10 step-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.

OPHELIA AMMONS SMITH

Ophelia Ammons Smith, 85, of Andalusia, died Fri., Sept. 16, 2011, in the Opp hospital.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Sun., Sept. 18, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in Old Bethesda Cemetery in Loango with Brother Ray Miles officiating and Foreman Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, John and Nancy Smith of Andalusia, Phillip and Kathryn Smith of Auburn and Kent Smith and his sweetheart, Karen Foglesong, of Andalusia; her grandchildren, Karen S. and Tim Jones, Cinnamon S. and Brian Kellerberger, Parker Smith, Kathryn and Billy Watkins and Lauree and Ron Stapp; and great-grandchildren, Price Jones, Lily Stapp, Rose Stapp, Benjamin Stapp and Joseph Stapp.

Pallbearers were Steve Black, Bobby Duncan, Kim Little, David Nall, Mark Patterson, Tommy Rowell and Eddie Weihenmayer.

RUBY MAE SMITH O’NEAL

Ruby Mae Smith O’Neal, of Andalusia, died Fri., Sept. 16, 2011, in the Andalusia Hospital.

Funeral services were held on Sun., Sept. 18, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Magnolia Cemetery. Judge Trippy McGuire conducted the service, and special music was performed by her grandson, Dennis O’Neal.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Michelle O’Neal of Andalusia; her daughter and son-in-law, Shirlene and Jim Allen of Homer, Ga.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Berry O’Neal.

WILLIAM ‘BILL’ HENSON

William “Bill” Henson, 65, of Red Level, passed away on Sat., Sept. 17, 2011, at his residence.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Mon., Sept. 19, at Keahey Funeral Home with the Rev. Rev. Woody Clark and the Rev. Billy Smithart officiating.

Survivors include his long time companion, Lee Henson of Red Level; stepmother, Lucile Henson of Carolton, Ill.; son, Mike Henson of Missouri; daughters, Kris Henson and Kim Henson, both of Missouri; sister, Judy Thompson of Nebraska; two stepsisters, Sandy Henson and Gail Henson; stepdaughter, May Thornton of the Cohasset Community; stepson, Bobby (Marta) Godwin of Rose Hill; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
