Cancer is an insidious disease that has touched each and every one of us in someway or the other. We've seen loved ones - both family and friends - stricken down by a sickness that will not go away. Or, we've experienced it ourselves.
Relay for Life serves as a reminder about the good and caring nature of people. Seeing someone suffer from cancer is heartbreaking and we want to help. Organizations like the American Cancer Society serve cancer patients through funding of scientific research and allow us to combat this dreaded illness in the only way that we can - by giving money.
This Friday's Relay at the Greenville YMCA promises to be another serious occasion, marked with periods of fun and laughter. It is a time to remember those who have left us, and in remembering keep their spirits alive.
For the second year in a row, The Greenville Advocate has produced a special Relay for Life section, which you will find enclosed.
This section lists the timetable for events at this year's Relay, and also includes a map to guide you as you walk among the numerous tents, sponsored by area businesses and churches. In addition, sponsors for the event is listed inside.
We, at The Advocate, applaud the efforts of all the teams involved in Relay for Life 2006. We hope that this year's event will be the biggest ever for Butler County and its citizens.
