First there was Katia; then there was Maria, and now there is Tropical Storm Nate.

Shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday, U.S. Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft were placed en route to investigate a disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico near the Yucatan Peninsula.

What was then a broad area of low pressure located over the Bay of Campeche producing a large area of cloudiness and showers over the southwestern Gulf has now been christened Tropical Storm Nate.

Mexican officials have issued a tropical storm warning for the cost, and forecasters continue to watch the progress of both tropical storms Natia and Maria.

Natia is not expected to make landfall on the U.S.; however, it’s too soon to tell the exact path of Maria or if the U.S. coast will be affected.
