The Greenville Kiwanis Club will hold its annual Coaches Corner Kickoff Football Preview Tuesday at the Boy's and Girl's Club at noon.
This season's meeting will feature three new faces as all three Butler County School System football teams have new coaches going into the 2006 season.
Bryant Vincent takes over for Mike Williams at Greenville, Donald Ray Mixon takes over at Georgiana for Greg Ennis and Miles Brown returns to his alma mater at McKenzie to replace David Kirkland.
The county's veteran coach, James “Speed” Sampley of Fort Dale, will also be on hand.
“We've had the unfortunate thing of having three new coaches all at the same time, but change is sometimes good and all three of these coaches seem to be bringing in a positive change,” Kiwanis board member Allen Stephenson said. “Tuesday's meeting should make for an interesting and informative afternoon with these new coaches.”
The format of Tuesday's meeting will be that each coach is allotted five to 10 minutes to talk about their program and the upcoming season. Once each coach has had an opportunity to speak, the floor will be opened up for a question and answer session.
“The past kickoffs have produced some really large crowds,” Stephenson said. “It really does make for a great kickoff.”
Although the meeting is sponsored by the Greenville Kiwanis Club, the meeting is also open to the general public. Anyone interested in attending should contact Carol Lee at the Greenville Chamber of Commerce for information.
