Well, last week I hit the nail on the head for all of the games. But this week starts league play for the high schools and the major colleges, so let's see who comes out this time.
Crenshaw will host Autauga Academy from Prattville. The Cougars should continue their winning ways with a close win. AA- 7, CCA- 18.
The Bulldogs won't even need to dress out their starters. It won't be pleasant for Pleasant Home in Dog town this Friday night. PHHS-7, BHS 56.
The Squadron will host Goshen in their area opener this Friday night. All I can say is if you are going to the game, take some crossword puzzles or some knitting to do. It will get boring about 3 minutes into the game. The Squadron will rest their starters also. GHS-6, HHS 42.
The Luverne Tigers will host Horseshoe Bend this week. I hope the Benders have a good trip down because it won't be pleasant going home. I just hope no one gets hurt. The Tigers should win with not much of a problem. HBHS-7, LHS 28.
Now, for the big boys.
The Trojans from Troy will travel to Tallassee, Fla., to square off with the Noels. This won't be nice for the T-town boys. The Noels are coming off a big win over arch rival Miami on Monday night. Even with this they are too strong for the Trojans. TU-10, FSU-42.
Auburn will travel to Starkville, Miss., to tangle with the State Bulldogs. The dogs are coming off a heart-breaking loss to South Carolina, while the Tigers won at home against helpless Washington State. The Tigers will need to play heads up football for a half, then their speed, skill, power and depth will take over and they can name their score. AU-42, MSU-7.
The Tide will host Vanderbilt. The Commodores played Michigan a fair game only to come out on the short end. But this is an SEC game, and it is against Alabama. The ‘Dores will pull out all the stops to try to pull off this upset. But it will be to no avail. The Tide will prevail. VU-7, UA-31. Well, I hope for the sake of all the schools I chose that luck is with them.
