Fair arrives in city next Tuesday

The scent of popcorn and funnel cakes, the sight of beautiful flowers and crafty creations, the sounds of kids’ laughter ringing in the night air.
Next week the Butler County Fair will bring all this and more for the community to enjoy.
Sponsored by the Greenville Kiwanis Club, the annual event runs from Tuesday, Sept. 26 through Saturday, Sept. 30.
As always, the fair will offer commercial exhibit booths, fine arts and arts and crafts displays, a flower show and livestock exhibition. A midway full of thrill-and-chill inducing rides, fun games of chance and plenty of tasty food will complete the fun of going to a county fair.
Gates open at 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and at 2 p.m. Saturday.
New this year will be a &uot;Butler County’s Got Talent&uot; contest slated for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights kicking off at 6 p.m.
Deadline for all exhibits and contests is Monday, Sept. 25.
Specials and special events are slated throughout fair week, Richard Branum, secretary-treasurer of the Kiwanis, said.
&uot;On Tuesday, all rides are just $1 and on Thursday, you can ride all evening for just $10.
On Saturday, kids under 12 get free admission between 2-4 p.m. From 2-5 p.m., everyone can enjoy all the rides for just $10,&uot; Branum said.
Starting at 6 p.m. Friday night, entertainment will be provided by Rosco of WKXN Radio.
&uot;We of the Kiwanis Club appreciate everyone’s support over the years and hope plenty of folks will turn out again this year and enjoy the Butler County Fair,&uot; Branum said.
Gate admission is $5 for adults, $1 for children 6-11 and free for children under age six.
