Brasington leads Cougar attack over PCA, 48-6

The CCA Cougars got out of the gates quickly with 28 points in the first quarter, extended its advantage to 35-0 at the half, then coasted home, putting a 48-6 thumping on Prattville Christian Academy.
&uot;Our guys really came alive Friday night both offensively and defensively,&uot; Head Coach Roland Jones said. &uot;Jake Page came up really big for us, as well as Derek Manning, Bryan Brasington and several others. On the other side of the line, Zach, Jake, Jared, Paul and others had big nights. We (the coaching staff) are very proud of the entire team.&uot;
Senior Bryan Brasington led the Cougar attack with a perfect 6 of 6 for 99 yards. The running attack paved the way for CCA, rushing 24 times for 329 yards and 6 touchdowns during the night. They were headed up by Jake &uot;The Snake&uot; Page with 8 carries for129 yards and 4 scores while Derek &uot;Eli&uot; Manning added 125 yards and 1 TD on 11 carries. Weston Byrd chipped in 52 yards and 1 tally on 2 carries. Leading the receiving corps with 3 catches was Jared Hughes, while Allen Sasser had 2. Nathan Phillips contributed 5 PAT’s to the cause.
Defensively, Big Zach Ballard led the charge with 11 stops while Page and Hughes had 9 each, Paul McIlwain 8, Charlie Mack and Manning 7 apiece, and Jason Tutchtone, Joseph Ring and Byrd 6 each. Tutchtone and Sasser also had 1 interception apiece.
This week, CCA is back on the road, taking on Abbeville Christian Academy Friday night. Game time is 7 p.m.
