New street lighting to be installed on Manningham

The Greenville City Council approved several orders of business during its regularly scheduled council meeting on Monday night.
The council:
n Approved the board appointment of Dick Harmon to the Housing Authority Board.
n Authorized a budget amendment to the 2006-07 Budget in the amount of $5,156.27 for emergency repairs to the Greenville Fire Department's fire engine No. 32.
n Authorized the city's sponsorship of the 2007 Food Service Program for children. Under the direction of the Alabama Department of Education, assistance is provided annually for providing meals to children during summer months.
n Authorized the installation of additional street lighting at the cost of $5.72 per month ($68.64 annually) at 1131 Manningham Rd., per police chief Lonzo Ingram's recommendation.
n Approved the following expenditures: $4,291.75 to Air Supply for a Scotsman ice maker for the Public Works Building; $1,033 to the National League of Cities for 2007 dues; $2,479 to Gulf States for police department ammunition.
n 2007 Business licenses may be purchased through Jan. 31 without penalty.
n Monday, Jan. 15 will be a city holiday to observe the Martin Luther King,Jr. and the Robert E. Lee holidays. Garbage pick-up for Monday will be on Tuesday.
n The next meeting of the Greenville City Council will be on Jan. 22 at 5:30 p.m.
