The Greenville High School football jamboree schedule was completed this week as Tigers head coach Bryant Vincent announced the Class 6A Foley Lions will be coming to Greenville for the fall jamboree game.

The game will take place on Thursday a week before the season opener at Georgiana.

&#8220The Greenville community and people love their football and we want to give them the best,” Vincent said. &#8220I think they'll be the best team we face all year.”

The Lions are coming off a 10-2 record and an appearance in the second round of the Class 6A playoffs.

&#8220It doesn't get much bigger than Foley,” Vincent said.

The Lions have finished 19-4 over the last two seasons and were the runner up to Daphne in Region 2. Foley also defeated Enterprise in the opening round of the playoffs this season before falling to the eventual champion Prattville Lions in the second round.

&#8220(Foley) should be ranked in the Top 10 at the start of next season,” Vincent said. &#8220If the town and community can't get fired up for this, then they don't love football.”

Along with bringing what should be a Top 10 team, the Lions will also feature one of the most sought after players in the nation.

Julio Jones, a 6'4 215-pound junior, will be a senior leader for the Lions next season and the Tigers will have to up their game to stop the receiver's 4.4 speed.

Jones has attended many camps around the nation, including a Nike camp in Baton Rouge this season.

The addition of Foley for the fall jamboree game also has another interesting storyline in that Lions head coach Todd Watson and Tigers head coach Vincent have had some serious battles during their coaching careers.

Watson was the defensive coordinator at Hoover before going to Foley and Vincent was the offensive coordinator at Spain Park, Hoover's cross-town rival, before coming to Greenville.

Vincent and the Jaguars never beat Watson and the Bucs.

Although Foley is a perennial powerhouse in Class 6A, Vincent said such a challenge will benefit his team.

&#8220It will be good for us and it will let us see where we stand against the best,” Vincent said. &#8220But we're not going to back down from anybody.”

In return for the home game this year, the Tigers will travel to Foley next season for a jamboree game.

In addition to the Foley game, the Tigers will travel to Highland Home to play the Flying Squadron in the spring jamboree game. The Squadron upended the Tigers 16-14 during last season's spring game.

The Tigers will open the 2007 season at Georgiana, although it has not been determined whether the game will be on Thursday night as it was this past season or if it will be on Friday night.
