Pastor Bobby Weeks of Glenwood United Methodist Church announces their upcoming Spring Revival.

Rev. Bobby and the congregation extend a warm welcome to everyone to join them as they worship together for a 3 night revival.

On Sunday night, March 18th, Rev. Curtis Petrey will be the guest speaker.

Rev. Andy Blackmon will speak on Monday night and Rev. John Wesley Spivey will be the guest speaker on Tuesday night.

They will begin each night at 7:00 p.m.

Brantley Methodist Youth Bell Choir will render special music at the Tuesday night service.

Pastor Bo Weed of Southside Baptist Church in Troy blessed everyone as he spoke at New Ebenezer Baptist Church this past Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights.

Pastor William Leverette appreciates everyone who supported their Spring Revival.

On Sunday evening, the church hosted a fellowship supper before the service.

The special music for Sunday night was performed by Southside Praise Choir under the direction of Lowell Carter.

The Luverne First Baptist Church Out-Look Group met at the church parking lot to board the church bus for a trip to tour the Montgomery Hyundai assembly plant on March 9, 2007.

Before leaving, a short devotion and prayer was held.

A special welcome was given to all the newcomers, included with 23 attendees.

At the entrance of the plant lobby, a welcome marquee displaying the name &#8220Luverne First Baptist Church” caught everyone's attention.

The group was greeted by two young ladies who served as their tour guides.

Reserved seating was planned for lunch in an area much like a food court in a shopping mall.

After lunch everyone had time to browse in the gift shop.

The guided tour began at 12:30 p.m. with a short film presentation before the group boarded the trolley for the tour of the plant.

The speaking guide, who gave informative information during the tour, also acknowledged and congratulated

J. I. and Mazelle Brook for celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary.

The group was amazed at the vastness of the Hyundai Plant.

This was truly a beautiful day of fun and fellowship that was enjoyed by all.

Upon returning, Richard Brown rendered a prayer of thanksgiving for the fellowship and the safe trip, and Jimmy Taylor was thanked for his safe driving.

The annual appreciation Capital Trailways Luncheon was hosted recently by Jake and Jo Styron in Montgomery at Eastdale Baptist Church.

The Styrons are tour guides for Capital Railways.

Jake drives the bus and Jo makes all her travelers feel so welcome and comfortable.

Those attending from this area were Florence Jeffcoat, Mattie Pearl Sport, Louise Morgan, Margaret Nichols, all of Luverne, and Johnny and Beverly Taylor of Goshen.

Mrs. Julia Anne Harrison of Birmingham honored her mother, Evelyn Nichols of Geneva, with a surprise birthday party in her mother's home recently.

Helping Evelyn celebrate her 87th birthday from this area were Voncile Nichols, Frances Nichols and Ed and Margaret Nichols.

Evelyn and her late husband, Porter Nichols, were formerly of Luverne.

Porter worked for years as a meat cutter for Piggly Wiggly, and Evelyn was a clerk at Floyd Layton's department store.

Friends who knew them loved them for their Christian faith and dedication to the First Baptist Church of Luverne where Porter served as a deacon for many years.

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Phillip McDougal of 407 Spivey Street Ext. for their beautiful, well-groomed lawn.

They earned the coveted &#8220Yard of the Month” award given by the Luverne Garden Club for the month of March 2007.

Cameron Chapel United Methodist Church will sponsor a gospel singing this Saturday, March 17th.

The Bottle Creek Gospel group from Castleberry will give a concert at 7:00 p.m.

A supper meal will be served at 6:00 p.m.

There will be no charge for the supper or concert.

They will collect a love offering for the gospel group because of their help in several fundraisers in the past for the new fellowship hall at Cameron Chapel.

Beta Sigma Phi met on March 6, 2007, at the Jan Cook Center in Dozier.

A very informative program concerning breast cancer was presented by Jean Sport and Dorothy Rayborn.

Ms. Sport is now taking on-going treatments at the cancer clinic in Montgomery.

She expressed to everyone the importance of getting regular mammograms.

After the program, the club elected new officers.

Elected to serve for the new year were Karen Davis as president, Yvonne Johnson as vice-president, Hazel Dozier as recording secretary, Carolyn Sims as treasurer, Betty Lucas as corresponding secretary and Jean Sport as extension officer.

Nine members and one guest attended.

Also, the club was happy to announce their recent yard sale was very successful and extends a special thank you for all who contributed and came and purchased items.

The LHS 1947 Lunch Bunch met at the Chicken Shack for their March luncheon.

Ten members were present with one guest, Patti Roy, who is the daughter of Wilma Cook.

After the meal, the group gathered in the private dining room to visit.

Charles Sport, a classmate and his wife, Gladys, joined them for a while.

The April luncheon will be held at The Ole Hotel on the second Thursday, the 12th, at 11:00 a.m.

Praise report . . . Congratulations and thanks are in order to a very special lady who got tired of seeing the unsightly litter that surrounded her home on Chapel Hill Road.

Linnie Earle Wright had previously picked up 28 bags, and shortly after that the litter bugs

threw out more on her clean area.

She picked up 2 more bags, making a total of 30 bags off of one mile east and 1 mile west of her home.

What a shame!!

Also, there is a plan in place through the Sheriff's Department and the Solid Waste Department to start a county-wide clean up!!
