The Butler County Board of Education will conduct its next work session at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2007 at the BOE Central Office located at 215 Administrative Drive in Greenville. The public is encouraged to attend.

n The Skys at Ga-Ana
The award-winning musical duo The Skys will appear at the Ga-Ana Theater in Georgiana at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 24. Southern-style gospel with an acoustic touch live in concert!
Tickets are $8 per person; $15 per couple.
n Women’s Day Program
The pastor and members of Harrison Street Baptist Church in Greenville cordially invite you to attend their Annual Women’s Day Program to be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2007. Call to Life Worship Center is sponsoring an Easter event in Confederate Park in Greenville from 2 to 4 p.m. on this date. Easter egg hunt ages 10 and under with great prizes; bring your camera for photos with the Easter Bunny. Face painting, balloons, hands-on children’s crafts, sack races and more fun will be offered.

The Greenville-Butler County Public Library is now taking donations for its upcoming Annual Used Book Sale slated for April 13 and 14. n Health and Wellness Classes
The Camellia Senior Center at 111 Bolling Street in Greenville is presenting a series of programs on health and wellness by Dr. Delores Victoria at 2 p.m. every other Monday afternoon. Classes began Feb. 12. Everyone is invited to be a part of these informative free classes, covering such topics as nutrition, diabetes, hypertension, and weight management. n OCAP Head Start applications
OCAP Head Start is now accepting applications for children, ages 3 to 5 for the 2007-2008 school year. The child must be three years old by Sept. 2, 2007. Applications are being taken Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the following Head Start centers: Greenville, 334-382-8034; Luverne, 334-335-3909, and Georgiana, 334-376-5331.
Requirements are: birth certificate, physical or Medicaid screening, blue shot record, proof of income, Social Security numbers of all family members in household, food stamp card and Medicaid card or insurance information. Head Start is available for all children regardless of race, color, creed, religion, sex, disability or national origin. Moms who need a break are invited to join MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) at Southside Baptist Church. Meetings begin January 2007. Teaching, discussion, creative projects, and community are offered for all mothers with children from birth through kindergarten. Childcare is provided. The ADPE through the LBWCC Adult Education Consortium is offering classes for adults who did not complete their high school education or need to strengthen educational and job skills.
