An Andalusia man was jailed on charges of timber theft last week, officials said.

William Kevin Clark, 36, is charged with five counts of cutting and selling timber without the permission of the owner and allegedly taking timber valued at more than $3,700 for a Butler County landowner.

Officials with the Alabama Forestry Commission said Monday that Clark turned himself in to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office and was held on a $30,000 bond.

If convicted, he could be sentenced to one-year in jail and fined up to $6,000 per count.
