Everyone rejoices with the Luverne United Methodist Church for them to have been able to return to their new, clean sanctuary for their Easter Worship Service.

They had been unable to worship there for two months due to fire damages.

The Luverne United Methodist &#8220Young at Heart” meeting was held in March.

The decorations were in the St. Patrick's Day theme with the colors of green and white with a lot of beautiful fresh spring flowers.

Curtis Petrey opened the gathering with prayer and blessed the covered dish meal.

Dorothy Wyatt gave the program by reading several St. Patrick readings.

After the meal and fellowship time, Curtis Petrey dismissed the group with prayer.

Congratulations to Shannon Motes on West Third Street for being selected by the Luverne Garden Club to receive the &#8220Yard of the Month” award for the month of April.

The Luverne Garden Club met in the home of Voncile Nichols on Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at 3 p.m.

Julia Davis and Chris Brown were co-hostesses.

Mary Lynn Holiday and Linda Bland gave a wonderful demonstration on how to use different inexpensive containers to make beautiful impressive floral arrangements for your home or as gifts.

Some of the arrangements were later given as door prizes.

Julia Davis also gave a plant as a door prize.

The Garden Club's annual plant and bake sale was discussed.

Seventeen members were present.

The Beta Sigma Phi Sorority met at the Jan Cook Center in Dozier on April 3, at 7 p.m.

Eleven members and two visitors were present.

Jean Sport and Dorothy Rayborn were hostesses and served refreshments.

The game of bingo was played with the proceeds going toward their many different civic projects.

They made plans to celebrate the Beta Sigma Phi Founders Day on April 28, 2007.

This is also the day the sorority gives a monetary donation to the Brantley Fire Department, Brantley Rescue Squad, Dozier Fire Department, Spring Hill Fire Department and Crenshaw County Domestic Violence Task Force.

The members would like to encourage everyone to mark their calendars for May 5th.

Please help spread the word about their up-coming Yard Sale to be held at the Dozier Fire Department beginning at 8 a.m.

This will be a fundraiser to support their civic projects.

Also, they will be carrying gift bags to the residents of Luverne Health & Rehabilitation, LLC as one of their service projects.

Women's Ministries of Midway Community Church, Dock Road, invite women of the area to bring your favorite doll and join us on Saturday, April 21, 2007, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a retreat.

Centenary Assembly of God celebrated Easter services with a wonderful pageant presented by Pastor Josh Lane, Anthony Goodwin, Renea Coleman and David Coleman.

Special solos were performed by Belinda Wallace and Meeke Sipper.

After the service, church members traveled to Windham and Edna Sipper's cabin and pond for a picnic and egg hunt.
