Georgiana and Greenville advance to sub-state

The Georgiana Panthers softball team advanced to the sub-state over the weekend by finishing as the runner-up in the area tournament.
During the tournament, the Panthers knocked off the Goshen Eagles 5-2, the Red Level Tigers 10-1 and the Highland Home Flying Squadron 12-1 before falling to Luverne 10-0.
In the championship game, the Panthers once again fell short of the Luverne Tigers, 10-0.
“The heat got to us a bit, but I am really proud of these girls,” Goergiana head coach Jerome Harris III said.
Patrice Cheatham, Shataska Mobley, Kay Maye and Anna Nelson were named to the All-Tournament team for the Panthers.

The Greenville Tigers advanced to the sub-state over the weekend by finishing as the runner-up in the area tournament.
The Tigers fell to the Demopolis Tigers 9-4 in the championship game, scoring the only runs on Demopolis during the entire tournament.
