A local man is wanted for numerous counts of writing bad checks, local authorities said, Friday.

Inves-tigator Max Smith of the DA’s worthless check unit said that Michael Eugene Feagin is wanted on 19 warrants on charges of negotiating worthless instruments.

“And that’s not counting additional checks that have come in this week,” Smith said.

Smith said that due to the volume of bad checks Feagin has written in recent weeks, merchants should be on the look out.

“We are strongly discouraging merchants from accepting checks from this individual,” he said. “We had one local merchant turn in more than 10 checks from this individual.”

Smith said he plans to put wanted posters across town of Feagin in order to warn the public and merchants to be on the look out.
