Andalusia completed its area sweep over Hillcrest-Evergreen Friday night at home in a doubleheader.
The Bulldogs routed Hillcrest 19-4 in the first game and 11-1 in the second.
Andalusia improves to 11-14 overall, and 3-0 in Class 4A, Area 3.
Andalusia coach Jonathan Rasberry said the series with Hillcrest wasn’t a bad one, and that “everybody on the team had an opportunity to play.”
“I thought a lot of kids got a chance to play (Friday night),” Rasberry said. “Just about every kid got in the game. It’s a great opportunity to allow the kids to swing the bat that haven’t had the chance to in the last week or so.”

Andalusia scored three runs in the first inning, seven in the fourth inning and one in the fifth to get the 10-run win.
The Bulldogs used their base-running prowess to earn a lot of the runs in the win.
“I thought we did a good job of manufacturing the runs,” Rasberry said. “We still have a long way to go. We’ve got Thomasville next Thursday and getting ahead in area is always a good start. That’s going to be a big game and if we can win the first one here, and the second one over there, then that automatically puts us in the playoffs. That’s a good motivational tool for these guys. It all starts next week on Thursday.”
Hillcrest scored its only run in the first inning on a solo home run by Nared.
Rogers earned the win for the Bulldogs in five innings. He allowed six hits, one run and had nine strikeouts.
Andalusia will travel to play Daleville on Monday at 5 p.m. Varsity will start first.
Then on Thursday, Andalusia hosts Thomasville at 4:30 p.m.
In girls action, the Lady Bulldogs beat Hillcrest, 12-6.
