Last week, the Pleasant Home Eagles (2-3, 0-3 in Class 1A, Region 2) shut out Rocky Bayou Christian 37-0 and are hoping to use that winning momentum against the No. 2 Brantley Bulldogs (5-0, 3-0) Friday night.

Pleasant Home coach Robert Bradford said the game this week will require the team to play on all cylinders to be successful.

“I think (Brantley) are as good as advertised,” Bradford said. “They’ve got a couple of kids that are special to their team. We’ve got a big task ahead of us and we are excited about it. Anytime you play a team like that, there is nothing to lose. So, we’re going to try and make big plays on offense and defense and go out there and see what we can do.”

Bradford said that Brantley’s running back Anthony Gulley is going to be a player that will be hard to stop.

“He’s their main guy,” he said. “They’ve got a bunch of role players. We’re definitely going to have our eyes on him.”

Bradford said practice this week has gone well and that the kids are looking forward to the game Friday night.

“It’s gone pretty good,” Bradford said. “Anytime you go into a contest where you are looking at a really good team, there are some obstacles to overcome. The kids overall have a good attitude going into it.”

The Eagles are 2-3 going into the second half to the season, where they will face Brantley, Kinston, Providence Christian and Florala in region games.

Bradford said he is looking forward to the second half of the season due to the difficulty the first half presented.

“In the first half it was definitely the tougher half of the season,” Bradford said. “We had McKenzie, Ariton and Geneva County, which are all good teams. In the second half, it’s going to build us up and give us a chance to play in the playoffs or get better for next year.”

Kickoff in Brantley is at 7 p.m.
