The Andalusia Bulldogs (1-7, 1-5 in Class 4A, Region 1) could have their hands full as they host the dominating UMS-Wright Bulldogs (6-2, 5-1) tonight.
“We’ve had a good week at practice and we’re going into the game with a real simplistic approach on offense and defense,” head coach Brian Seymore said. “We’re going to have a good plan on both sides of the ball. Maybe we can execute and establish the running game and try to run right at them.”
At practice, the team went back to the basics, which Seymore said was mainly concentrated on the offense.
“We went back to the fundamentals of the offensive side of the football,” he said. “We started to work on our base run plays and formations and just try to be sound and fundamental. If we go out there and make as little mistakes and take care of the football in offense, defense and special teams I think we have a chance to win the football game.”
Seymore said what makes UMS-Wright so good is that the players practice what the coaches preach.
“UMS has a solid program from top to bottom and they’re very well coached,” Seymore said. “They are very fundamental. They don’t do a lot offensively and defensively, but what they do out there they are very sound. The kids believe in what they do and that’s why they’ve been successful over the years.
Kickoff in Andalusia is at 7 p.m.
