Emmy Rabren, 8, got her hair cut Friday afternoon to do her part to help the “Locks of Love” program. “Locks of Love” is a nonprofit organization that urges people to donate their hair; that hair is then used to make wigs for financially disadvantaged children who suffer from medical hair loss.
Emmy is a second grader in Kim Dutton’s class at Straughn Elementary School. Emmy said she learned about the “Locks of Love” program because a friend had previously donated her hair. Emmy grew her hair out for about two years before getting it cut Friday by Julie Kyzar at Jay Kay Salon.
“I wanted to give my hair to a person who lost their hair,” Emmy said. “I want to help somebody who needs new hair.”
Emmy is the daughter of Doug and Kim Rabren of Rose Hill.
