Gary Smith, PowerSouth Energy Cooperative’s President & CEO, has announced the following changes in the cooperative’s senior management structure, effective Jan. 27.
Courtney Bowers will become vice president of member services and communications and will report to the president and CEO. Bowers began her career at PowerSouth as an engineer in 2013 and most recently served as T&D Engineering and Construction manager.
Matt Diamond will become vice president of power production and will report to Damon Morgan, PowerSouth’s executive vice president and COO. Diamond began his career at PowerSouth as an engineer in 2011 and most recently served as PowerSouth’s vice president of member services and communications.
Brian Matheson will become vice president of staff services with responsibility for the human resources, safety and building and grounds departments. Matheson will report to Beth Woodard, executive vice president and CFO. Matheson began his career at PowerSouth as an engineer in 1996 and most recently served as vice president of power production.
Russ Harper will become manager of T&D Engineering & Construction and will report to Joe Armstrong, vice president of engineering and operations. Harper began his career at PowerSouth as an engineer in 2012 and most recently served as E&O support manager.
Smith praised each employee for their service to PowerSouth.
“Courtney Bowers has been and is a very high performer for PowerSouth,” Smith said. “She has worked in our technical areas and most recently led the design and construction of our transmission system. Her latest assignment was the Gulf Coast loop expansion and upgrade in the Florida panhandle — the largest and most complicated transmission project PowerSouth has undertaken in a decade.”
“Matt Diamond has led a number of areas at PowerSouth, the latest being member services and communications,” Smith said. “He brings outstanding negotiating abilities to the power production area as we enter our next era of generation expansion.”
“Brian Matheson has led PowerSouth’s power production for the last six years,” Smith said. “In particular, he led construction and startup of the Lowman Energy Center, PowerSouth’s largest and most efficient power generation facility. Brian possesses outstanding people skills, which will be invaluable in leading PowerSouth’s human resources, safety, and building and grounds efforts.”
And, of Russ Harper, Smith said he “has excelled in his various roles of increasing responsibility at PowerSouth, and he will now use those outstanding skills to lead the T&D Engineering & Construction Department.”
“I applaud Courtney, Matt, Brian, and Russ for their accomplishments and look forward to even greater success in their new roles,” Smith said.
