Rothel “Roy” Leon Findley, 91, passed away peacefully on Jan. 5, 2025, in Huffman, Texas.
Born and raised in Alabama, Roy spent the last 30 years in Huffman, having previously lived in Humble.
A man of few words, Roy was a private person who enjoyed a simple and fulfilling life. He found joy in the outdoors, especially in hunting and tending to his beloved garden. Roy also had a fondness for the casino and playing dominoes, where he loved spending time with family and friends. He cherished reading the newspaper and often enjoyed quiet moments with it. A devoted family man, Roy was deeply loved by his grandchildren and visits from his family brought him immense joy. He had a special sweetness toward children, especially his grandkids, who were his pride and joy.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 63 years, Janice Findley, his sisters, May White and Shirley Kenney, and his brother, Paul Findley.
He is survived by his sons, Roy Findley and Kenneth Allen Findley and wife Debbie; daughter, DeLynne Luckey; brother, Robert Findley and wife Mary; sister, Betty Bryant; grandchildren, Chrissy Wiley and husband Marshall, Chuck Findley, Haley Findley, Samuel Luckey and wife Emma; great-grandchildren Marshall Wiley Jr., Jenna Wiley, Samuel Luckey II, and Amelia Luckey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Roy’s life was a testament to kindness, simplicity, and the importance of family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A visitation was held on Friday, Jan. 10, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, with a service following at 11 a.m.
Roy’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported them during this time. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
