Covington County BOE approves four personnel matters at first 2025 meeting

The Covington County Board of Education handled four personnel matters at its first meeting of the year on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

During the meeting the board approved:

Retirement

  • Alison B. Thomasson as assistant principal at Straughn High School effective Jan. 31

Resignation

  • Andrew Tyler Lowery as physical education teacher at Straughn High School retroactive to Jan. 1

Employment

  • Tyler Carnley as bus driver at Red Level School effective Jan. 13, pending verification of new or existing background reviews

In other personnel matters, the board approved the termination of a bus driver at Red Level School effective immediately.

In other business, the board heard a distribution of financial reports that have been reconciled to most current bank statements from chief school finance officer Ressie Gray.

The board set the next meeting date for Tuesday, Feb. 4, 5:30 p.m., at the central office.
