The Andalusia Police Department expects to file numerous charges against individuals involved in a street fight on Tuesday night.

Capt. Brett. Holmes said the APD was dispatched to the 300 block of 8th Avenue at about 9 p.m. Tuesday regarding a fight and a possible stabbing. There were 10 to 12 people present at the time of the fight. One of the victims was taken to Andalusia Health in a private vehicle.

At the hospital, officers made contact with two female victims. One had been stabbed, but her injury was not life-threatening. The second had been injured in the fighting.

The investigation continued throughout the night, and officers continue to conduct interviews today, Wed., Jan. 8. The APD is sorting out how many of those present were involved in the fighting.

“It is too early for us to determine who was at fault,” Capt. Holmes said. “However, we do expect to charge several individuals.”

The APD responded to a separate call during this time frame when fighting was reported at a local fast food restaurant.

“That turned out to be two teenagers carrying on, and was not related to the 8th Avenue fight,” Holmes said.

Anyone with information about the fight and stabbing is asked to call the APD at 334-222-1155, or CrimeStoppers using the 24-hour tip line at 215-STOP (7867).
