Kentucky woman killed, Opp man and others airlifted after Hwy. 55 collision

A two-vehicle crash in Conecuh County resulted in the death of a Kentucky woman and injuring four others, including an Opp man who was airlifted from the scene.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the two-vehicle crash occurred Thursday, Jan. 2, at approximately 9:20 a.m.
Virginia L. Schueman, 64, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky was fatally injured when the 2023 Tesla Model 3 she was a passenger in collided head-on with a 2019 Honda Accord driven by Jaret Grayson Oswald, 27, of Opp. Schueman was pronounced deceased at the scene. Oswald was injured and airlifted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola for treatment.
The driver of the Tesla, Steven Bradley Welker, 40 as well as another passenger in that vehicle, Amanda Welker, 37, both of Shepherdsville, were both airlifted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. A 12-year-old juvenile and a 9-year-old juvenile, also passengers in the Tesla, were injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The crash occurred on Alabama 55 near the 47-mile marker, approximately one mile south of the McKenzie city limits inside Conecuh County.
Nothing further is available as State Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
