Temporary ramp will be available during the construction phase
A temporary handicap ramp will be installed a the Covington County Courthouse while a permanent structure is being constructed.
Representatives of the Covington County Commission announced that a temporary handicap ramp was placed on Monday, Dec. 23. The ramp ensures continued accessibility for all visitors to the courthouse during the upcoming construction period.
McClain Contracting will begin work on the permanent ramp on Monday, Jan. 6. The ramp will be placed on the opposite side of where the ramp is currently placed.
“This project underscores the County Commission’s commitment to improving accessibility and ensuring compliance with ADA standards,” officials said in a written statement.
During the construction period, county officials requests the public’s patience and understanding as the work to enhance the accessibility of the courthouse facilities.
Signage will be placed to direct visitors to the temporary ramp and other points of entry.
