Mr. James Oliver Pate Jr., 89, of Sanford passed away on Friday, Dec. 6, 2024, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2 p.m., from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Larry Stewart officiating. The interment followed in Bethel Cemetery in Babbie. Visitation was on Monday, Dec. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home.
He is survived by his children, Shirley Cooley, Jimmy Pate, Walter Watson, and Charles Reeves; his grandchildren, Stacey (Doug) Hutto, Perry (Susan) Elmore, and Jonathan (Tiffany) Pate; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley Elmore (Brett Armstrong), Bridgette (Jared) Ammons, Cindy Hutto (Taylor Davis), Mindy Hutto (Tanner Campbell), Cierra (Payton) Childers, Brayden Elmore, and Andrew Pate; 10 great-great-grandchildren, Harper Kate Ammons, J. R. Armstrong, Barrett Ammons, Tucker Ammons, Thomas Childers, Jameson Armstrong, Trever Davis, Brixton Childers, Baylen Childers, and Addilyn Armstrong.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Ruthie Williams Pate; one son, Johnny Pate; his parents, James Pate and Thelma Hardee Pate; and his brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers were Jared Ammons, Payton Childers, Mason Bozeman, Matthew Bozeman, Tanner Campbell, Taylor Davis and Brett Armstrong.
Honorary pallbearers were Michael Horath and Brayden Elmore.
