Andalusia High School will be the home of Richard Robertson’s 58th Annual Andalusia Christmas Tournament scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 12, through Saturday, Dec. 14.
The tournament, which is the longest-running basketball tournament in the state of Alabama, will have a total of seven boys’ teams playing in a double-elimination format. Local county teams Andalusia, Opp, Red Level, and Straughn make up four teams in the field. Georgiana, Hillcrest-Evergreen, and Monroe County will make up the remaining three teams in the field.
The tournament begins with three opening-round matchups on Thursday, Dec. 12. Opp and Red Level will square off in an all-county battle at 5 p.m. followed by a matchup between Georgiana and Monroe County at 6:30 p.m. The first day concludes when Straughn faces Hillcrest at 8 p.m.
The losers of games 1 and 2 begin the second day of action on Friday, Dec. 13, at 5 p.m. with the loser eliminated for a seventh-place finish. The winners of games 2 and 3 meet in the first semi-final at 6:30 p.m. Andalusia takes the court against the Opp-Red Level winner in the second semi-final at 8 p.m.
The loser of game 3 and winner of game 4 will open the final day on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 5 p.m. with the winner earning a fifth-place finish. The loser of games 5 and 6 will compete in the third-place game at 6:30 p.m. The championship game will pit the last two undefeated teams at 8 p.m.
Andalusia finished runner-up to Enterprise in 2023, so a new champion will be crowned this year.
Admission is $10 per day, and tickets will be available at the door.
