Andalusia Isshinryu Karate competes at Dothan tournament

Members of Andalusia Isshinryu Karate competed in the 44th Annual WYKKO (World Yoshukai Karate Kobudo Organization) Southeast Region Open Karate Tournament held at the Dothan Civic Center in Dothan, Alabama, on Saturday, Nov. 2.
The tournament was hosted by WYKKO Directors Hiroaki Toyama and Mike Culbreth, and attracted competitors from as far away as California.
Andalusia’s Jamey Doulin led with three first place finishes. All AIK members and their finishes from the event are as follows:
- Jamey Doulin: first place in black belt men’s weapons, first place in black belt men’s kata, and first place black belt men’s fighting
- Lawrence Sargent: first place in beginning weapons, second place in yellow belt kata, and first place in yellow belt fighting
- Brianna Walker: first place in brown belt weapons, third place in brown belt kata, and first place brown belt girls’ fighting
- Henley Sargent: first place in beginning kata and second place in beginning fighting (This was Henley’s first time winning a first place. He is 5 years old.)
- Drew Marcotte: second place in beginning weapons and second place in yellow belt fighting
- Eli Rudd: third place in beginning weapons and third place in yellow belt kata
- Braydon Walker: second place in black belt youth weapons and second place in black belt youth fighting
- Lacey Rudd: fourth place in intermediate kata and fourth place in intermediate girls’ fighting
- Mark Rudd: second place in senior black belt weapons, second place in senior black belt kata, and first place in senior black belt fighting
Next up for the Andalusia Team will be the Tennessee Youth Games in Crossville, Tennessee, on Saturday, Nov. 16.
